The Alberta Band Association is committed to working with other provincial music organizations to bring you the best music conference experience possible each fall. Please join us November 3 – 5, 2011 in Red Deer for Music Conference Alberta. Our conference has been growing steadily in numbers and energy over the last few years and this fall we are pleased to have such esteemed presenters as Paula Crider, Thomas McCauley and Senator Tommy Banks. Teachers of beginner band in the Calgary area will want to check out one of our newest initiatives, the ABA Headstart Band Clinic. We had a very successful inaugural clinic last September and are pleased to present this program once again. Download registration form . With the tight budgets I’m sure many of us are facing this fall, you may want to peruse the ABA Bruce Marsh Memorial Lending Library. We have a huge selection of quality titles to choose from at every level. Every provincial syllabus title from the last 20 years is there as well as titles from many years of honour bands and workshop bands — repertoire favourites chosen by some of the finest conductors from across North America. We look forward to serving and supporting you and your students in providing positive and rewarding experiences in the coming year. Yours in music, AwardsThe Alberta Band Association annually presents three awards, two of which are awarded to recipients who are nominated by our membership. The awards are presented at Music Conference Alberta each year. The Keith Mann Award is presented annually to an outstanding new band director with fewer than 6 years teaching experience in the province of Alberta. Created to honour the memory of Keith Mann, the recipient will demonstrate Keith's enthusiasm and dedication to band music. Created in memory of Vondis Miller, the Vondis Miller Legacy Award is a long-service award recognizing an individual who has devoted many years to sharing the joys of music making with young people. Both nominations should be accompanied by letters of support and/or documentation.
